SUSTAINABILITY

We strive to contribute to a sustainable world through a sustainable development that satisfies our stakeholders current needs without jeopardizing the possibilities for the future generations.

SUSTAINABILITY IS OFTEN DIVIDED IN THREE CATEGORIES:

SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

– The care of human rights in the long run

ECOLOGICAL SUSTAINABILITY

– To economize the resources we have in common so that there will be enough for future generations.

ECONOMICAL SUSTAINABILITY

– to prevent poverty without giving negative influence to the social or ecological sustainability.

The vision of Brenderup Group is to be a market leading performer within sustainability.
To reach this goal we will – together with our clients, suppliers and other parties in our surroundings – make conscious acts to minimize environmental damage from our business. We also act for a social sustainable development in each of our areas.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Brenderup AB continuously act to improve and develop all of our processes within the business. We manage processes, set goals and organize action plans to follow up and improve. In sustainability, we have used a sustainability aspect list to analyze potentially damaging activities. We continuously work to minimize the negative effects on the environment.

The next years we have decided to focus on the areas:

  • Energy consumption
  • Water consumption
  • Waste disposal
  • Use of chemicals
  • Internal transportation
  • Our total emission of CO2

To work with these matters in the most effective and structured way possible, our quality management system is certified accordingly to ISO 9001 2015 (quality proof) and ISO 14001 2015 (environmental proof).

— The goal is to minimize the environmental effects from our business, says Johan Hyltse who is head of environment and quality.  — What we do is to continuously follow up heating, water consumption, lighting, internal/external transportation and waste disposal. We also try to find new potential substitutions for toxic chemicals.

SMART LOGISTICS

The environmental goals of the business are followed up every month. If there are any deviations we analyze them and get to the bottom of what needs to be done and sometimes the goals get corrected. We act to minimize the emission of CO2 in the transportation area. To succeed with this, we optimize our logistics with groupage traffic and compression of the amount of goods to and from our site. Smarter logistic solutions and less transportations make a lot of difference. We have reduced the transportations of trailers with as much as 60 percent through delivering them half assembled in steel boxes instead of completely assembled. The finishing assembly takes place close to the customer, that helps us save a lot.

ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY FUEL

An important action we’ve done is to increase the use of HVO100 in our transportation instead of regular diesel fuel. HVO100 decreases the emission of CO2 with 80-90 percent. Our company cars and internal transportations (forklifts etc.) currently run on a mix of fuel and HVO100. A long-term goal is to decrease our emission of CO2 with 50 percent from 2010 to 2020. We calculate the effect from heating, electricity, internal transportation and company cars. Already in 2017 it had decreased with 80 percent, so it’s on the right path. The next step is to analyze the logistics between us and our businesses in Europe which will also give results.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The social aspect in sustainability has got more attention and power the last years. More and more companies work for – and want to contribute to – an equal and fair community that is good for everyone. We take responsibility for this through practicing our Code of Conduct which explains the principles and policies we stand for. They are based on the UN Global Compacts principles on human rights, labor legislative rights, environment and corruption. It also contents our general values – how we act and behave. Not just as colleagues but also in our relations to clients, suppliers and authorities.

SUPPLIER CODE OF CONDUCT

It’s important to us to keep a high standard when it comes to both business ethics and sustainability. The Supplier Code of Conduct is based on the principles above and explains our expectations on our suppliers.

- We encourage our suppliers to establish their own Code of Conducts through similar standards. If a supplier doesn’t fulfill our expectations according to the Supplier Code of Conduct, we strive to encourage improvements and regular follow ups.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Sustainability is a common part in the daily work. The products themselves are strong and robust that makes them trustworthy in all kinds of weather, trailers are hardly products you use and toss. A trailer stays in good shape in decenniums if it’s handled with care. We always aim for a long lifetime for our trailers. One of our challenges is to minimize the use of materials but still create a robust trailer. We also want to build trailers in an easily dismantled design so that they’re easy to recycle.

- We have sustainability in mind even when we develop new products. Our ambition is to do our business with as little environmental influence as possible – both in the daily work and in the product development.
